I. OBJECTIVES:

1. Aims: At the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to:

  • Learn vocabulary about character, appearance and understand the text about Ba/s friends.
  • Talk about their friends/ character and appearance.

* Pronunciation:

II. PREPARATION:

1. Teacher: Lesson plan, Textbook, Teacher’s book, cassette, tape.

2. Students:

  • Textbook, notebook.
  • Vocabulary: character (n), sociable (adj), kind (adj), generous (adj), reserved (adj), humorous(n)

III. PROCEDURES:

1. Check-up: (5’)

  • Asks two Ss to write the paragragh about their father. (homework)
  • Asks the whole to share their ideas.

T: Uses the picture at P. 13 and gives out questions:

?How many people are there/?Who are they/?What do they do/? Where do they want to go?

I. PRE-READING: (13’)

1. Vocabulary:

+ Character (n)/ (Example)

+ Sociable (adj)/ (Situation)

+ Kind (adj)/ (Trans.)

+ Generous (adj)/ (Trans.)

+ Reserved (adj)/ (Example)

+ Humorous = a sense of humor

- Elicits the words from the Ss and says them out, writes and checks.

2. Open prediction:

- Hangs on the Grids & explains the task.

- Hands out the worksheets and asks Ss to work in groups to guess the information about Ba/s friends

- Gets feedback

II. WHILE-READING: (12’)

1. Reading and checking predictions:

- Asks Ss to read the text to check their predictions.

- Gets feedback and gives the key

2. Comprehension questions:

- Hangs the questions on the board and asks Ss to read the text again to answer

- Gets feedback.

- Helps Ss to correct and asks them to work in pairs.

III. POST-READING: (8’) Survey

- Makes the model & asks Ss to work in pairs.

- Explains: What is she/he like?

- Try out & repeat chorally-individually

- Give the meaning and stress

- Read & then rewrite the words.

1. Prediction:

- Focus the information on the Grid, work in groups & give their answers on the worksheets

- Follow teacher/s.

- Stick their answers on the B.B

- Read it in 3 Ms & pick out the information.

- Speak out their answers and check their predictions

- Reads it individually and then share their ideas in pairs.

- Speak the answers & write them on the board.

- Correct them, ask and answer the questions
