When I was about nine years old, my family took a trip to a beach. We stayed in a caravan near the bay. Due to the cold weather, most of the time my family played games on the beach and had a picnic. I especially loved looking in rock pools for fish and crabs and other sea life. I don’t know why, but it fascinated me back then. On one occasion, I caught loads of crabs in my bucket and when it was time to go back to the caravan at the end of the day, my mum and dad told me I should put the crabs back into the water. I was really upset because, being a small child, I wanted to keep them. However, they eventually convinced me that if I kept them then they’d die and so it was best to put them back in the sea, where they’d be happy. I always look back on that time fondly. I learned an important lesson that day that has served me well in life. It is important not to be selfish and to consider the feelings of others when making decisions– even if they are animals.

Khi tôi khoảng chín tuổi, gia đình tôi có một chuyến du lịch đến một bãi biển. Chúng tôi ở trong một xe du lich gần vịnh. Do thời tiết lạnh nên phần lớn thời gian gia đình tôi chơi các trò chơi trên bãi biển và dã ngoại. Tôi đặc biệt thích tìm kiếm cá, cua và các sinh vật biển khác trong các hồ đá. Tôi không biết tại sao, nhưng nó đã khiến tôi bị cuốn hút vào thời điểm đó. Có một lần, tôi bắt được vô số cua trong xô của mình và khi đến lúc phải quay lại xe vào cuối ngày, bố và mẹ tôi nói với tôi rằng tôi nên thả cua trở lại nước. Tôi thực sự rất khó chịu vì là một đứa trẻ nhỏ, tôi muốn giữ chúng lại. Tuy nhiên, cuối cùng họ thuyết phục tôi rằng nếu tôi giữ chúng thì chúng sẽ chết và vì vậy tốt nhất là đưa chúng trở lại biển, nơi chúng sẽ hạnh phúc. Tôi luôn trân trọng nhìn lại quãng thời gian đó. Childhood memories are one of the most important part of our life. I got much of an impression of the day when I went to the Ho Tay Water Park in Hanoi with my family. At that time, I was a little girl of eight years old. Everything in the park was strange with me. This was the first time I rode the water slides and got highly thrilled. Sliding down from a higher level is really exciting but I was a bit afraid. I could not believe that I would go down with water. Moreover, when the fall began, I clinched the piece of board that took me to the downstairs. Once the fall was done I felt that I should go again as I could not enjoy the first ride due to fear of falling out of the track. Though the rides were only for fun, they gave me a meaningful lesson. They have me made adventurous and now I am not afraid anymore to join in any activities that may make me feel scared.

Những kỷ niệm thời thơ ấu là một trong những phần quan trọng nhất của cuộc đời chúng ta. Tôi có nhiều ấn tượng nhất là vào ngày đến công viên nước Hồ Tây, Hà Nội cùng với gia đình. Lúc đó, tôi là một cô bé tám tuổi. Mọi thứ trong công viên đều lạ lẫm với tôi. Đây là lần đầu tiên tôi đi trượt nước và rất hồi hộp. Trượt xuống từ độ cao thực sự rất thú vị nhưng tôi có chút sợ hãi. Tôi không thể tin rằng tôi sẽ trượt xuống dưới nước. Hơn nữa, khi bị ngã, tôi đã nắm chặt mảnh ván đưa tôi xuống tầng dưới. Sau khi ngã xong, tôi cảm thấy rằng mình nên làm lại vì tôi đã không thể tận hưởng lần trượt đầu tiên do sợ bị rơi ra khỏi đường đua. Dù chỉ để vui chơi nhưng chúng đã cho tôi một bài học ý nghĩa. Những hoạt động này khiến tôi phải mạo hiểm và bây giờ tôi không còn sợ nữa khi tham gia vào bất kỳ hoạt động mạo hiểm nào khác.

Childhood is the best part of life and often people regret the days that they have left in their childhood. I also miss the days and remember the day when I was taken to school for getting admission in the beginners’ class.

The first day of my school is still vivid in my memories and I can recall the day exactly. I had started my education at the Nguyen Tat Thanh high school. This was an excellent place for me and I had formed the friendship with the other mates of my class. But on the first day, the experience was something different and in the present days, I realize how special the day was for me.

I was a boy of six years old when I entered the school premise. Everything inside the school campus was new to me and I also was a bit concerned about the issues as this was a different experience for me. It broke the regular routine of my childhood life. Earlier I used to get up late in the morning but on this day, I had to wake up earlier and get dressed for school. I also had to take breakfast earlier than the other days and my parents advised me in different ways while the top most important advice I heard on that day was that I have to behave nicely with everyone, and I was not allowed to move here and there in the school.

When I entered the principal’s room, I saw a man of middle age was sitting behind a large desk and his face was smiling when he noticed me. But I was feeling nervous for some unknown reasons. Then the principal (I came to know later that he was the principal of the school) asked me about my name and family. Then he also asked about some simple mathematical issues and I replied perfectly as my parents have trained me on the issues. The Principal also asked me about the names of the weekdays and the name of months in a year. Finally, he had some other talks with my parents and permitted them to admit me to the school.

The effect of the first day was great for me for the rest of my life. I was interviewed by the principal and passed with success. In fact, this was the seedling of success in my life and gradually it made me confident. Though it was a smaller interview for me and I was entirely ignorant of the issue that I am being interviewed for. This has made me stronger and whenever I am in any test, I am not afraid anymore. The first test of my life has built confidence in me.
