People say that in the future teachers will be holograms or cyborgs. It’s a nice idea, but I don’t think it will ever happen. Teachers need to be humans who can understand what their children are finding easy or difficult and change their teaching as a result. I actually think schools in the next 50 years or so will not look very different from how they look today.
Neil
I hope children will not have to travel to school for five days a week. I don’t think it will happen, but it should. I think most people learn better when they study on their own, in their bedroom, for example. Other children get in the way of learning when they behave badly in class, in my opinion. Then if we do move over to home study, everyone can carry on learning even after they grow up and get a job.
Mick
I know that teachers are using electronic devices more and more in classrooms. Some schools even allow children to use their mobile phones in lessons to do research and send results to the smart board. But I don’t think we will move to completely digital classrooms with virtual reality and so on. We won’t need to, because scientists will find a way in the next 50 years to put knowledge directly into children’s brains when they need it – through Bluetooth or something. The school buildings will become leisure centres and clubs.
