I. OBJECTIVES:

1. Aims: At the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to:

  • Understand the content of the dialogue about Hoa/s friend and know how to use “Enough”,review the simple present and simple past tense.

2. Knowlege:

* Vocab: (To) seem, (To) look like, Next-door neighbor (n)

* Grammar: Structures: S+tobe+adjective + (for so) +enough + to-infinitive+ ...

3. Skills: Listening, reading and speaking

II. PREPARATION:

1. Teacher: Lesson plan, Textbook, cassette, tape.

2. Students: Textbook, notebook.

  • Vocab: (To) seem, (To) look like, Next-door neighbor (n)
  • Structures: S + tobe + adjective + (for so) + enough + to-infinitive + ...
  • Pronunciation:

III. PROCEDURES:

1. Warm-up: (5’) Getting started: Matching (pictures on page 10)

T: Shows the pictures and makes the model, and then asks Ss to work in groups

2. Useful language:

? How many people are there in Pic. a, b, ......

? What are they doing?/Do the girls play soccer?/Do the boys play vollayball?

- T: What is your favorite activity?/ When do you play ........? Who do you play with?

3. New lesson:

- introduces the lesson.

I. PRE-STAGE: (12’)

1. Vocabulary

- Introdures the vocab by using the examples, translation and situation.

- Reads to model.

- Checks.

Next-door neighbor: a person who lives next to your house.

2. Model sentences:

* Examples:

Lan: Was she your classmate?

Hoa: No. She wasn/t old enough to be in my class.

II. WHILE- STAGE: (15’)

1. Presentation dialogue:

- Asks the Qs: Is Hoa older than Nien? What question tells you that?

- Writes the model and asks Ss to repeat.

- Provides another examples and checks the meaning, form & use.

- Helps Ss to work out the structure

2. Comprehension questions:

- Hangs on the task & explains the way to do it.

- Asks Ss to read the text again and answer the questions in pairs

- Gets feedback & checks Ss/ understanding

III. POST-STAGE: (10’)

Sentence combination

- Gives the instruction and models.

- Asks Ss to work in groups

- Gets feedback and then write their answers on the board.

- Look at the pictures

- Work in choral to answer the questions.

- Listen and give the words they guess.

- Repeat in choral and individually.

- Read and check .

- Copy them down

- Give the other examples.

- Look at and repeat in choral and individually.

* Meaning & form: We use Enough to combine two sentences into one.

® S + tobe + Adj + (for S.O) + enough + to-inf+ ...

* Note: For someone = for me/her/him....

- Read the dialogue again and answer the questions

- Copy and read out the model.Ss: copy and read out the model.

- Follow teacher and pick out the way to use Enough, talk about the components in the model sentences.

- Copy down.

- Read through the task

- Read the dialogue and share their ideas in pairs.

- Speak out their answers and write them on the board, then explain their answers.

- Use "Enough" to combine two sentences into one

* Consolidation:

  • Revises Ss with the way to use Enough
  • Asks Ss to narrate some information about Nien, basing on the dialogue

IV. HOMEWORK: (3’)

  • Asks Ss to revise the lesson & do excercises 1- P.5 and 5-P.9 (workbook)
  • Asks Ss to prepare: Speak and listen
  • Find out adjectives to describe people’s appearance.
