WEEK 1 – PERIOD 1

UNIT 1: ME Lesson 1

I. Objectives

- By the end of this unit, pupils can identify the course characters.

- Pupils can recognize English sounds and spoken words.

II. Procedures

*Warm up: Tell pupils to look at picture and ask the following questions in the pupils’ own language: How old are the children in the picture? (6,4 and 2 years old). What’s their relationship? (brother and sister).

A. Presentation

1. Teaching vocabulary

Step 1: Teacher teaches vocabulary: Adam, Baz, Jig, Pat, Tess.

Step 2: Write them on the board and read aloud the words.

Step 3: Pupils copy down into their notebooks and repeat after the teacher.

Step 4: Ask a few pupils to read aloud.

B. Practice

2. Listen and say

Step 1: Tell pupils that they are going to meet the course characters.

Step 2: Play CD. Pause after each name so pupils can point to the character in their books.

Step 3: Play CD again. Pupils repeat the names chorally and individually.

C. Production

3. Listen and find

Step 1: Say the characters’ name at random, eg. Baz, Tess, Pat, Jig, Adam.

Step 2: Check pupils are pointing to the correct character in their books.

Step 3: Play CD and pause after each name. Pupils listen and point to the character in their books.

D. Application

- Review the vocabulary.

WEEK 1 – PERIOD 2

UNIT 1: ME Lesson 2

I. Objectives

- By the end of this unit, pupils can introduce oneself in English.

- Pupils can greet and say goodbye in English.

- Pupils can learn to ask How are you? and respond politely to the question.

II. Procedures

*Warm up: Play a game

A. Presentation

1. Teaching vocabulary and structure

Step 1: Teach vocabulary: I’m, Hello, Bye and structure: How are you? I’m fine, thank you.

Step 2: Write them on the board and read aloud the words.

Step 3: Pupils copy down into their notebooks and repeat after the teacher.

Step 4: Ask a few pupils to read aloud.

B. Practice

2. Listen and say

Step 1: Tell pupils to look at the picture on pages 4 and 5.

Step 2: Play CD. Pause after each phrase.

Step 3: Play CD again. Pupils repeat the phrases chorally and individually.

3. Say and do

Step 1: Encourage the pupils to response with Baz’s name.

Step 2: Choose two pupils. Tell them to greet each other and say goodbye.

Step 3: Repeat with other pairs.

C. Production

4. Sing

Step 1: Play the CD. Tell pupils to listen to the song.

Step 2: Play the CD again and pause after each line. Sing the line and tell pupils to repeat after teacher.

Step 3: Play CD again and ask pupils to sing the song.

WEEK 2 – PERIOD 3

UNIT 1: ME Lesson 3

I. Objectives

- By the end of this unit, pupils can say, recognize and write the letter Aa.

- Pupils can recognize and say the sound/ae/

II. Procedures

*Warm up: Play a game

A. Presentation

1. Learn the letter

Step 1: Say apple and Adam. Pupils repeat the words.

Step 2: Write them on the board and read aloud the words.

Step 3: Have pupils repeat the letter name and letter sound.

Step 4: Tell pupils to practice.

B. Practice

2. Sing

Step 1: Play the CD. Tell pupils to listen to the song.

Step 2: Play the CD again and pause after each line. Sing the line and tell pupils to repeat after teacher.

Step 3: Play CD again and ask pupils to sing the song.

C. Production

3. Find

Step 1: Tell pupils to find the letter a in the alphabet.

Step 2: Tell pupils to look at the main picture on page 6.

Step 3: Say apple. Check that pupils are pointing to the apple.

D. Application

- Learn a song by heart.

UNIT 1: ME Lesson 4

I. Objectives

- By the end of this unit, pupils can understand and respond to imperatives.

- Pupils can recognize the written form of the characters’ names.

- Pupils can associate words and pictures.

II. Procedures

*Warm up: Sing a song.

A. Presentation

1. Say and do

Step 1: Tell pupils to look at page 7.

Step 2: Say Point to Pat and do the action yourself. Repeat the command to individual pupils.

Step 3: Introduce clap, stand up, and sit down in the same way.

B. Practice

4. Sing

Step 1: Play the CD. Tell pupils to listen to the song.

Step 2: Play the CD again and pause after each line. Sing the line and tell pupils to repeat after teacher.

Step 3: Play CD again and ask pupils to sing the song.

C. Production

4. Sing and do

Step 1: Play the CD. Tell pupils to listen to the song.

Step 2: Play the CD again and pause after each line. Sing the line and tell pupils to repeat after teacher.

Step 3: Play CD again, ask pupils to sing the song and point to the pupils you have added to the song. Repeat with other pupils’ names for the second verse.

- Pupils can recognize and say the sound /b/.

- Pupils develop fine motor control.

*Warm up: Play a game

A. Presentation

1. Learn the letter

Step 1: Say bird and Baz. Pupils repeat the words.

Step 2: Write them on the board and read aloud the words.

Step 3: Have pupils repeat the letter name and letter sound.

Step 4: Tell pupils to practice.

B. Practice

2. Sing

Step 1: Play the CD. Tell pupils to listen to the song.

Step 2: Play the CD again and pause after each line. Sing the line and tell pupils to repeat after teacher.

Step 3: Play CD again and ask pupils to sing the song.

- Pupils can understand and enjoy a story.

- Pupils develop fine motor control.

II. Procedures

*Warm up: Sing a song

A. Presentation

1. Look and say

Step 1: Repeat for all the characters in the story.

Step 2: Say Point to picture and check comprehension.

Step 3: Ask pupils questions about the story in their own language.

B. Practice

2. Listen

Step 1: Play the CD and pause between each frame.

Step 2: Ask pupils to tell you in their own language what they understood..

Step 3: Play CD again.

C. Production

3. Listen and act

Step 1: Play the CD and pause between each frame.

Step 2: Tell the class that they are going to act out the story.

Step 3: Ask other groups to act out the story.

D. Application

- Review the vocabulary.

WEEK 4 – PERIOD 7

REVIEW

I. Objectives

- By the end of this unit, pupils review the letters and sounds for Aa and Bb

- Pupils develop fine motor control.

II. Procedures

*Warm up: Play a game

A. Presentation

1. Review

Step 1: Teacher says a lot of vocabularies.

Step 2: Pupils repeat after teacher.

Step 3: Pupils do actions and say aloud.

B. Practice

2. Find and circle

Step 1: Tell pupils to look at page 10.

Step 2: Pupils complete the activity by circling the correct letters.

Step 3: Check the answers.

C. Production

3. Match and colour

Step 1: Tell pupils to look at activity 2 on page 10.

Step 2: Pupils draw lines from each of the letters t the correct picture.

Step 3: Pupils can then colour the pictures.

D. Application

- Review the vocabulary.

WEEK 4 – PERIOD 8

UNIT 2: MY CLASSROOM Lesson 1

I. Objectives

- By the end of this unit, pupils review the letters and sounds for Aa and Bb

- Pupils develop fine motor control.

II. Procedures

*Warm up: Play a game

A. Presentation

1. Teaching vocabulary

Step 1: Teacher teaches vocabulary: window, chair, table, bin, board, door, picture.

Step 2: Write them on the board and read aloud the words.

Step 3: Pupils copy down into their notebooks and repeat after the teacher.

Step 4: Ask a few pupils to read aloud.

B. Practice

Step 1: Play CD. Pause after each word.

Step 2: Play CD again.

Step 3: Pupils repeat the phrases chorally and individually.

C. Production

Step 1: Say the words at random, eg. table, bin, window, picture…

Step 2: Check pupils are pointing to the correct object in their books.

Step 3: Play CD and pause after each word. Pupils listen and point to the object in their books.

UNIT 2: MY CLASSROOM Lesson 2

I. Objectives

- By the end of this unit, pupils can practice greetings; ask and say what something is; thank someone and identify common classroom objects.

- Pupils develop fine motor control.

II. Procedures

*Warm up: Play a game

A. Presentation

1. Teaching structure

Step 1: Teacher teaches: Thank you; What’s this? It’s a……

Step 2: Write them on the board and read aloud the words.

Step 3: Pupils copy down into their notebooks and repeat after the teacher.

Step 4: Ask a few pupils to read aloud.

B. Practice

2. Listen and say

Step 1: Play CD. Pause after each word.

Step 2: Play CD again.

Step 3: Pupils repeat the phrases chorally and individually.

Step 1: Write the number 1 and 2.

Step 2: Say one and two

Step 3: Point to the correct picture.

Step 4: Check that pupils are pointing to the correct picture.

B. Practice

Step 1: Play the CD. Tell pupils to listen to the song.

Step 2: Play the CD again and pause after each line. Sing the line and tell pupils to repeat after teacher.

Step 3: Play CD again and ask pupils to sing the song.

C. Production

3. Sing and do

Step 1: Put the flashcards of Pat and Jig on the board.

Step 2: Sing verses 1 and 2 of the song again.

Step 3: Tell the pupils to sing along, doing the actions.

D. Application

- Learn number 1-2 by heart
