It was during summer vacation from school. I was looking forward to visiting a new place, but it was my first time traveling alone, and I felt nervous.

Before landing in Hong Kong, I could see the whole city from the airplane. It was a huge island, and the buildings were so tall! Behind the city, I could see green mountains with no buildings on them at all. I also saw lots of different sized boats in the sea. It was exciting to visit such an amazing-looking place.

My uncle was busy working the whole time, so I explored the city by myself. I took the ferry to Kowloon. The market there was incredible, and they sold everything you could possibly think of. I tried some local food, and the dumplings were my favorite. They were delicious.

One day, I took the tram up to the top of Victoria Peak above Hong Kong. I could see tall buildings everywhere I looked. There were two awesome skyscrapers on each side of the harbor, and ships were Sailing between them. The view from the mountain top was spectacular!

On the last day, went swimming at the beach. At first, I was terrified that there might be sharks. However, the lifeguard told me there was a big net in the sea to protect swimmers. After hearing that, I felt much more relaxed. I enjoyed swimming in the refreshing sea.

I had an amazing trip. I didn't have much time to hang out with my uncle, but it was OK because I learned a lot about being independent. After returning home, I felt more confident about traveling to new places by myself.

Last summer, I took a wonderful trip to Hoi An with my family. It was one of the most interesting trips I have ever had.

We travelled by car from Da Nang, and the journey took about an hour. When we arrived, I was amazed by the old streets, yellow houses, and colorful lanterns hanging everywhere. The weather was hot, but the town was full of life. We walked along the river, took many beautiful photos, and tried some local food like “cao lau” and “banh mi.” Everything tasted delicious!

In the evening, we joined a boat ride on the Hoai River. The view was magical — hundreds of lanterns were floating on the water, lighting up the night. I felt so peaceful and happy at that moment.

The next day, we visited a traditional market and bought some handmade souvenirs. When the trip ended, I didn’t want to leave. It was a short journey, but it gave me wonderful memories that I will never forget.
