In Singapore, English stands as an official language. A vast majority of Singaporeans (4 million residents) can speak English. And, about 48.3% of Singaporeans speak English as an official language.
However, Singapore's linguistic diversity extends beyond English. Alongside it, Malay, Mandarin Chinese, and Tamil are also widely spoken, reflecting the cultural diversity of the nation. English in Singapore isn't merely a tool of communication but it's also used officially in various aspects of daily life, including education, business, government, and media. For example, English is the language of instruction in schools and the administrative language of this country.
Overall, English in Singapore plays a vital role in various aspects of national life.
