“I’m running for president,” Trump told Forbes in an interview after their estimate was published. “I’m worth much more than you have me down [for]. I don’t look good, to be honest. I mean, I look better if I’m worth $10 billion than if I’m worth $4 billion.” The financial disclosure paperwork that Trump filed with the Federal Election Commission assesses his net worth at more than $10 billion.

While some of Trump’s Republican rivals have tried to make an issue of the four times one of his businesses has filed for bankruptcy, Trump has argued that he was merely using the bankruptcy laws where advantageous for his commercial interests, and that he’s never personally gone bankrupt. “I have used the laws of this country just like the greatest people that you read about every day in business have used the laws of this country, the chapter laws, to do a great job for my company, my employees, myself and my family,” Trump said during the first GOP debate in August. “I have never gone bankrupt.”
