TOPIC: Because of the city traffic and housing problems, the government encourages enter-prises to move to the countryside. Do you think the benefits out the drawbacks?
ANSWER:
Seeking to ease traffic congestion and shortages of housing, the governments urge busi¬nesses to move to rural areas. In my opin ion, this policy has both negative and positive inn pacts, but, overall, the benefits totally outweigh the disadvantages.
On the one hand, the relocation might pose several problems to enterprises and their em-ployees. in the first place, the staff of these companies, who live in the town, could have to commute for longer distances to work, which takes time and exhausts them, Imagine that because their companies are situated in new places, a part of the urban population now have to spend hours just getting their office and coming back home, leading to a reduction in their time budgets for their families and for relaxing after work. Afro, this practice could place financial burdens on businesses, as moving to the country will cost them a huge sum of money on renting new offices and building new factories, opportunity cost due to their delay in operation.
On the other hand, the decision to move enterprises to rural areas creates positive impacts on the society as a whole. Firstly, less company based in the downtown would reduce the traffic pressure on the city infrastructure and the demand for housing. Asa result, the city governments do not need to allocate their budgets for continuous improvement in traffic transport and housing construction, and save funds for other essential programs_ Besides, as there are more companies operating in rural areas, more jobs opportunities will be open to local people. This practice will make rural economies develop, resulting in a higher standard of living in the countryside
In conclusion, it seems to rne that moving businesses to the country may cause some minor problems to the firms and their staffs in the short-term, but this policy will greatly benefit the whole society in the long-term.
