I. OBJECTIVES:

1. Aims: At the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to:

Understand and order the recipe to make the “Special Chinese Fried Rice” and the “Fried Rice” they made at home.

2. Knowlege:

* Vocab: Fried rice, salt, ham, garlic, green peppers

3. Skills: Listening, speaking & Writing.

II. PREPARATION:

1. Teacher: Lesson plan, Textbook, Teacher’s book, cassette, tape, posters.

2. Students:

  • Textbook, notebook.
  • Vocabulary: Fried rice, salt, ham, garlic, green peppers

III. PROCEDURES:

1. Checking: (15- minute Test)

Write the English meaning of the following Vietnamese words:

  1. Xoăn 4. Di cư
  2. Chan hòa 5. Người câm điếc
  3. Dưới lầu

Use the given words in the brackets to rewrite or complete the following sentences:

  1. The weather is warm. We can go swimming. (enough)
  2. The ladder wasn’t very long. It didn’t reach the window. (enough)
  3. Trung bought a new comics this morning and he has no homework tonight. (is going to)
  4. The sun doesn’t rise in the west. It…………………………………. (the east).

I. PRE-LISTENING: (10’)

1. Vocabulary:

- Elicits first and says out the words.

- Writes and checks.

+ Salt -> a teaspoon of salt

+ (The) green peppers (Realia)

- Checks vocab. : asks Ss to match the phrases with the pictures at P. 30.

2. Open prediction

- Sets the scene in which Lan is cooking the Special Chinese Fried Rice for Mrs. Tu and asks Ss to predict the main ingredients in this dish.

II. WHILE-LISTENING: (11’)

1. Listening and checking predictions

- Plays the tape twice for Ss to listen and check their predictions.

- Asks Ss to share their results.

- Gets feedback.

- Plays the tape once again.

- Hangs on the poster and asks Ss to read through the statements.

- Asks Ss to listen to the tape to order them from 1 to 5 and plays the tape.

III. POST-LISTENING: (7’)

Write - it - up

- Asks Ss to work in groups of four to list out the way to make the Fried Rice they usually do at home.

- Invites 2 groups to read out their Fried Rice.

- Comments and corrects.

Try out and repeat chorally- individually

- Give the meaning & pronunciation

- Match the phrases with the pictures individually.

- Follow teacher, work in groups and write their predictions on the worksheets.

- Stick their predictions on the board.

- Listen and note down the answers.

- Work in pairs & share their results.

- Speak out their answers and explain.

- Listen and check their predictions.

- Read them chorally and focus on the information.

- Listen to the tape and share the orders with their partner.
