1. Revision of the conditional sentence:

- Ask Students to repeat the form and use of it:

Form:

If +S + V (Present simple tense), S + modal verbs + V

Example:

If you want to get good grades, you must study hard.

- Call on some Students to give examples

- Ask them to do the exercise 1:

- Call on some pairs to demonstrate in the front. Correct mistakes and give the answers:

2. Revision the rules of changing direct speech “into reported speech.

- Have Students look at the table and complete it.

Explain the aims of the exercise and the way to do.

Example:

“I am happy to see you” => Aunt Xuan said she was happy to see you.

- Call on 6 students to write on the board. Correct mistakes and give correct answers:

a) Uncle Hung sais that birthday cake was delicious

b) Miss Nga said she loved those flowers.

c) Cousin Mai said she was having a wonderful time there.

d) Mr. Chi said he would go to Hue the following day.

e) Mrs. Hoa said she might have a new job.

f) Mr. Quang said he had to leave then.

* Introduce the aims and form of the reported speech in questions:

a) Yes/ No questions:

S + asked + (O) + If / Whether + S + V

b) Wh – questions:

S + asked (O ) + Wh + S + V ……

+ Reported verbs are: asked, wondered, inquired, wanted to know … If the reported verbs are Said, Said to or told, they should be changed into asked.

- Guide Students to do the exercise 4:

- Ask Ss to read the examples aloud:

“Do you like pop music?” => She asked me if / whether I liked pop music.

“Where do you live” => She asked me where I lived.

- Ask them to compare their results with a friend.

- Call on some Students to write on the board , correct and give the answers:

a) She asked me how old I was.

b) She asked me if my school was near there.

c) She asked me what the name of my school was.

d) She asked me if I went to school by bicycle

e) She asked me which grade I was in.

f) She asked me if / whether I could see a computer.

g) She asked me why I wanted that job.

h) She asked me when my school vacation started.
