1. Cách dùng thì quá khứ đơn lớp 5

+ Diễn tả một hành động xảy ra và đã chấm dứt ở một thời điểm xác định trong quá khứ.

Ví dụ: – Linh lived in Nam Dinh when she was a little girl.

My brother went to London last month.

+ Kể lại một chuỗi hành động xảy ra liên tục.

Ví dụ: Yesterday I came home late, I had a bath, ate noodle soup, watched TV and then went to bed.

+ Diễn tả một hành động đang xảy ra thì có một hành động khác xen vào.

Ví dụ: – Yesterday when I was going home, I saw an accident.

- I was watching TV when my mother came back home from work.

2. Công thức thì quá khứ đơn lớp 5

- Với Động từ Tobe:

+ Dạng khẳng định:

S + was/ were…

Ví dụ He was a doctor.

They were late for school yesterday.

+ Dạng phủ định:

S+ was/ were+ not …

Ví dụ: I was not a good student.

They weren’t my teachers.

+ Dạng nghi vấn:

(WH) + was/ were S+ …

Yes, S + was/ were

No, S + wasn’t/ weren’t.

Ví dụ: Were you a student?

=> Yes, I was/ No, I wasn’t.

- Với Động từ thường:

+ Dạng khẳng định:

S + V-ed + C

Ví dụ: Yesterday, we played cards at John ’s house.

(Hôm qua, chúng tôi đã chơi bài ở nhà bạn John.)

+ Dạng phủ định

S + didn’t +v-inf+C

Ví dụ: We didn’t go to the cinema yesterday evening.

(Tối hôm qua, chúng tôi đã không đến rạp chiếu bóng.)

+ Dạng nghi vấn

Did + S + V-inf + C?

Ví dụ: — Did you go to the English club two days ago?

(Hai ngày trước bạn đã đi đến câu lạc bộ tiếng Anh phải không?)

– Yes, I did. (Đúng vậy.)

3. Quy tắc thêm đuôi ed vào động từ thì quá khứ đơn

Theo quy tắc thêm ed vào sau động từ:

Ví dụ:

To watch - watched

To talk - talked

Những động từ tận cùng bằng "e" (câm), "ee" ta chỉ việc thêm "d" vào cuối động
từ đó.

love => loved

agree => agreed

like => liked

invite => invited

change => changed

believe => belived

2. Động từ 1 âm tiết, kết thúc bằng “Nguyên âm + Phụ âm” => gấp đôi phụ âm + "ed"

a. Đối với động từ có 1 âm tiết:

stop => stopped

plan => planned

shop => shopped

drop => dropped

fit => fitted

Lưu ý: Với động từ kết thúc bằng “nguyên âm + phụ âm “h, w, y, x) thì ta chỉ them “ed” mà không gấp đôi phụ âm.

stay => stayed

mix => mixed

3. Động từ có tận cùng bằng “y”

a. Động từ có tận cùng bằng “y” mà trước “y” là nguyên âm (u, e, o,a,i) => ta chỉ
việc thêm “ed” vào sau động từ.

stay => stayed

obey => obeyed

play => played

b. Động từ tận cùng bằng “y” mà trước “y” là phụ âm => ta chuyển “y” thành “i” +
“ed”.

study => studied

supply => applied

worry => worried

try => tried

supply => supplied

4. Dấu hiệu nhận biết thì quá khứ đơn

Trong câu thường xuất hiện các trạng ngữ chỉ thời gian trong quá khứ như:

• Last night/ week/ month/…;
• ago;
• in the past;
• yesterday,
• in+ thời gian trong quá khứ.
