London’s Tropical Carnival

This annual three-day festival takes place on the last weekend of August and celebrates Caribbean cultural diversity in the UK. Our lively carnival takes place on the streets of the Notting Hill area, in West London, and is a great way to learn about one of London's many vibrant cultural communities.

There are such many cultural activities to do at the festival that you feel as though you were in the Caribbean! Watch the parade, for example, or even take part in it! Watch eye-catching dance performances and listen to lively traditional music at the UK's biggest steepen band competition!

The delicious aroma of Caribbean cuisine is in the air here. Try traditional foods like spicy jerk chicken, goat curry and corn on the cob. Savour these dishes with some smooth carrot juice on the side while you're enjoying the festivities, or pair them with traditional British foods so you can create delicious combinations.

The carnival begins at 10 a.m. and ends at about 7 p.m.

The carnival is free to attend although you may need tickets for some popular shows. The steelpan competition is £20 for adults and £7 for children.

The event is a leisurely 15-minute walk from Bayswater Underground Station. Look out for bus number 7 or 18 to get there. There are accessible parking spaces available and 42 toilet facilities in the area.
