Nội dung bài nghe
Max: I think we should all use green energy, especially the energy of the sun. It is a permanent, free source of electricity. Besides, it is abundant and cheap. Solar panels are affordable to install and the maintenance and operational costs are minimal and so, it just makes sense.
Anna: I think we should all use green sources of energy, but I think it will be most beneficial if our leaders invest in the wind farm projects that can provide electricity to lots of households and businesses. This will help to promote local sustainable development rather than individuals and it will create more jobs.
Will: It doesn't really matter to me whether we use solar power or wind power or hydroelectric power as long as we all start using green energy sources as soon as possible. We can all help to slow down climate change by reducing carbon emissions and we can reduce our dependence on fossil fuel supplies.
Susan: It is our responsibility to use green energy sources such as solar and wind power because energy production benefits local communities. Also, it makes sense to generate electricity in sunny areas such as ours and we will be able to enjoy lots of benefits like lower energy bills and even avoid buying imported fossil fuels.

(I = Interviewer, PB = Professor Brown)
I: Welcome to the Green Podcast. Today, we are talking with Professor Brown from Franklin University about geothermal energy. Hello Professor Brown.
PB: Thank you for having me.
I: So, first of all, what is it?
PB: Well, geothermal energy comes from the Earth's core where the temperature is over 4000 degrees Fahrenheit. This heat is stored in rocks and liquids deep underground as well as near the surface. Some countries have used geothermal energy for thousands of years.
I: I guess in countries like Iceland where there are a lot of volcanoes and hot springs.
PB: Yes. When there is hot water close to the surface, it is easy to use it for cooking or for heating your home.
I: So how do people produce geothermal energy?
PB: Well, they dig wells down into the ground to meet the geothermal resource. Then the energy is brought to the surface. The energy is steam or hot water and it drives a turbine.
I: So what are the benefits of geothermal energy?
PB: Well, firstly it is renewable. It produces much less carbon dioxide than any fossil fuel. It is also cheaper and costs 80% less than fossil fuels.
I: Wow. But does geothermal energy have any disadvantages?
PB: Well, it is only available in some parts of the world and it is very expensive to drill and set up the power plant. Finally, sometimes there are toxic materials underground.
I: So which places have access to geothermal energy?
PB: You mentioned Iceland but also New Zealand and the USA. Anywhere with hot springs, geysers and volcanic activity.
I: Right. Well, this is very interesting but I am afraid of this.
