I. Read the following passage and answer the questions.

Do you know what a dog year is? It is a way to guess how old a dog is in human years. Dog
years and human years are different. Many people say that 1 dog year is equal to 7 or 8 human years. This would mean a 1-year-old dog is the same age as a first grader!

Dog years go by very fast. This means a dog grows up very fast. A puppy can walk a few weeks
after it is born. It takes people more than one year to walk! Dogs grow into adults by the time they are just two years old. People take a lot longer to become adults. We are just learning to talk when we are two! Once a dog is an adult, it doesn’t grow as fast. This is kind of like people. When you become an adult, you won’t grow much more, either.

People live to be about 80 years old. Dogs usually live to be about 12 years old. Twelve years
