Từ loại trong Tiếng Anh
I. Lý thuyết danh từ trong tiếng Anh
1. Định nghĩa
- Danh từ (Noun) là những từ chỉ người, vật, sự vật, sự việc,…. gồm hai nhóm: danh từ đếm được và danh từ không đếm được.
2. Danh từ đếm được (Countable nouns)
a. Danh từ đếm được số ít
- Danh từ đếm được số ít thường đi sau mạo từ xác định a hoặc an
- “An” đi cùng với danh từ số ít bắt đầu là một nguyên âm “u, e, o, a, I”
Eg: an apple
- “A” đi cùng với danh từ số ít bắt đầu là một phụ âm
Eg: a book
b. Danh từ đếm được số nhiều
- Danh từ số nhiều là từ hai vật trở lên, thường kết thúc bằng “s” hoặc “es”
- Quy tắc thêm “s” hoặc “es”
- Tận cùng là “s, ch, sh, x, z” thì thêm es
Eg: a dish => dishes
- Tận cùng là “f” hoặc “fe” thì bỏ “f” hoặc “fe” thêm “ves”
Eg: a leaf => leaves
- Tận cùng là “y”, trước “y” là một nguyên âm thì thêm “s”
Eg: a key => keys
- Tận cùng là “y”, trước “y” là một phụ âm thì bỏ “y” thêm “ies”
Eg: a baby => babies
- Tận cùng là “o” trước “o” là một nguyên âm thì thêm “s”
Eg: a radio => radios
- Tận cùng là “o” trước “o” là một phụ âm thì thêm “es”
Eg: a hero => heroes
3. Danh từ không đếm được (Uncountable Nouns)
Danh từ không đếm được là danh từ không thể đếm bằng những con số cụ thể 1,2,3...
Danh từ không đếm được không có dạng số nhiều, chỉ có dạng số ít.
Danh từ không đếm được có thể thêm some, any, much, (a) little phía trước.
Examples: some water, much rice …

9. Abstract nouns (danh từ trừu tượng) |
beauty, freedom, love, work, time, information, news, knowledge, etc. |

10. Some Concrete nouns (Một số danh từ cụ thể) |
furniture, money, luggage, traffic, business, baggage, homework, etc. |
* Khối lượng của danh từ không đếm được có thể xác định bằng cách thêm những cụm từ dưới đây ở phía trước (The quantity of uncountable nouns)

THE SIMPSON FAMILY
The Simpsons live in a fictional town in the USA called Springfield. Homer Simpson is the father of the family. He is 39 years old. He’s tall, fat and strong. Homer likes eating and drinking very much. He is not very clever, but he is very funny.
His wife, Marge, is a good mother who has to take care of Homer and the rest of the family most of the time. She is 38 years old and she is usually very calm and gentle. Marge has got a good relationship with her sisters, Patty and Selma.
Bart is 10 years old. He is not very bright. In fact, he is a weak student who enjoys comic books and skateboarding. He often tells lies and he is naughty. He is short with fair hair.
