Helping Mother Nature

Gary is a forest firefighter and he works in the USA. His father is a firefighter, too. He often faces a lot of danger, so he has to be brave. He loves his job although it's dangerous. Gary really enjoys working outside and he worries about the environment. There are more and more forest fires every year, so rainforests are disappearing. He believes that there won't be any rainforests in the future if we carry on this way. Then, lots of animals will become endangered.

Janet is a zookeeper. She works in a zoo in the UK. She loves her job because she believes that keeping animals in zoos will save them. In the wild, these animals are in danger from illegal hunting, illegal pet trade and climate change. Janet is very caring and she looks after the animals well. She also shows school groups around the zoo. She loves watching children see wild animals for the very first time. For Janet, zookeeper is the best job and she doesn't want to change her job.

If you like books, then you'll love Great Moor Book Fair. Last year's fair was at the library, but this year, it is at the Town Hall, a bigger building. It is taking place on the 12th and 13th of June. That's the weekend, so everyone can come. As always, it's free to get in, but there aren't many places, so make sure you arrive early. It starts at 9:00 a.m. and finishes at 5:00 p.m. on both days. At the fair, you can see theatre performances and listen to writers read out their books. Younger readers can take part in a competition; they will dress up as their favourite book characters. There is a prize for the best. This year, you can learn how to write a book. Just think! If you do well and become famous, then next year you'll be here at Great Moor Book Fair!

Lim Festival is one of the most famous traditional festival in Vietnam. It is held on the thirteenth day of the first lunar month by local residents in Lim village, Bac Ninh province, Vietnam. There are many activities during the festival. We can listen to Quan Ho folk songs behind Lim pagoda, in Lim hill and on dragon boats on Lim rivers. We also can watch a weaving competition among the village girls. Other traditional games such as human chess-playing, cockfighting contest, rice-cooking contest, tug of war and wrestling were also held.
