Guessing game
ASk ss to prepare a piece of paper.
Teacher writes the sentence on the board and ask ss to copy down.
Ask students to choose the place in town (factory, museum, post office ...) to complete the sentence. Keep it secret.
Teacher models: I live near a ........................
T: Do you live near a bank?
S1: No, I don’t
T: Do you live near a post office?
S1: Yes, I do

Step 1. Presentation. (13’) Pre-teach. vocab by car: bằng xe ô tô (visual) -by bus: bằng xe buýt (visual) -by bike: bằng xe đạp (visual) -by motorbike: bằng xe máy (visual) -by train: bằng tàu hỏa (visual) -by plane: bằng máy bay Walk (v): đi bộ . + Introduces the words by explaining the meaning, using the pictures on P78/79. - Reads the words for the modal (3 times). Then helps Ss to repeat (2 times ). - Checks S’s reading in individual & corrects the mistakes. - Checks the meaning & the pronunciation. -Corrects & asks Ss to copy the words. Check voc : What and where Presentation text: C1 P 78. - T. sets the scene: Look at the pictures. Who are in the pictures? What are they doing? - Ss listen to the dialogue. - T. asks sts to practice saying the dialogue in open pairs then in close pairs. Model Sentences: - T: You are Lien. How do you go to school? - St: I go to school by bike. - T. asks sts to repeat the answer and the question. - T: Look at the picture. How does Lien go to school? - St: I go to school by bike. - T. asks sts to repeat the answer and the question. - Sts copy the model sentences. Step 2 : Practice : (16’) Picture cue Drill - Run through all word cues - T. models => sts repeat Example Exchange S1: How does Lien go to work? S2: She goes by bike Listen and write:(C3. P80 ) - T asks sts to name some of means of transports. - T. has sts tell the names of the people they are going to listen about. - T. asks sts to listen twice and write the short answers next to the names. - T gives feedback.
Step 3 : Production : (8’) Noughths and crosses: (using the information from "Listening") - Divide the class into 2 teams. - One team is Noughts (0) and the other is crosses(x). - One team starts choosing a number and makes a question and an answer with the given words. If the question and the answer are correct, T puts a mark (O or X ) in that square. - The first team to get 3 in a row (across, down or diagonally) wins the game. E.g. - How does Ba go to work? - He goes by motorbike | - Listening to the words. - Repeating the words in chorus & in individual. Correcting the mistakes. - Giving the meaning & the pronunciation. - Copying the words. - Reading the text in silence. - Practicing in groups & in pairs. -Correcting the pronunciation.
