Marie Curie was born in Warsaw, Poland, in 1867 and loved science from a young age. Even though many people at that time had decided that women could not be scientists, Marie never gave up on her dreams.

When she studied at the University of Paris, Marie didn't have much money, but she worked hard to support herself. While she was studying, she met another scientist there, Pierre Curie, and they fell in love and married. Together, they did important research on something called radioactivity.

In 1898, Marie and Pierre discovered two new elements, polonium and radium. These were big discoveries in the science world, and the first they named after Marie's home country. But Marie still had to deal with people who didn't think she should be pursuing science because she was a woman.

Marie didn't let anything stop her. She won a Nobel Prize in 1903, along with Pierre and another scientist, for their work on radioactivity. No woman had won a Nobel Prize in any area before. Marie continued working even after her husband died in a road accident in 1906.

In 1911, Marie made history again by winning another Nobel Prize. She had managed to discover a pure form of the element radium which has the atomic number 88.

Marie Curie's life shows us that if we work hard and never give up, we can achieve anything. She is an inspiration to people everywhere, reminding us that determination and passion can help us overcome any obstacle.
