Nội dung bài nghe
Hillview City Council has recently announced a new Rural Development Plan to help improve the lives of people living in rural areas outside the city. The process will begin on 1 January and include a variety of actions designed to solve two of the main issues associated with rural living. They are unemployment and poor public services. To deal with unemployment, the Council will provide financial support to people who wish to start new businesses in rural areas. This will help to develop industry and increase the number of job opportunities in these areas, allowing people in rural communities to earn more money and have a higher standard of living. The Council also plans to upgrade public services in rural areas outside the city. One way they will do this is by providing better health services for people in rural communities. In addition, the Council plans to repair old train lines in these areas, allowing people to travel to and from the city more easily. By doing this, it will improve the quality of life in countryside communities and make them more accessible for people. The coming year will bring a lot of changes to the Hillview City area. The Council's new Rural Development Plan will modernize rural communities and improve the quality of life there, making these places much more suitable for modern living.

(S = Sophia, E = Eric)
E: Hi Sophia, how are you?
S: Hi Eric. I'm well thanks. I've just had a really interesting geography lesson. We were learning all about megacities today.
E: Really? So what exactly is a megacity? I've heard the word before, but I don't really know what it means.
S: Well, a megacity is one with more than 10 million residents. Sometimes megacities are the result of two or more neighboring cities expanding until they join together and form one enormous urban centre. However, that's not always the case.
E: So how many megacities are there in the world then?
S: There are now about 33 megacities in the world, and the number is always increasing as the world's urban population continues to grow. Places like Tokyo and New York City are already considered megacities, and experts expect cities like London, Chicago and Ho Chi Minh City to gain megacity status in the next decade.
E: Wow, that's so interesting. So, do you think you would ever like to live in a megacity?
S: Hmm, I'm not sure. There are definitely advantages to living in such a big urban place. For instance, there is always something happening, like a theatre show or a music event, so it's impossible to be bored in a megacity. However, being surrounded by so many people could be stressful. I think I'd like to try it, but only for a year or two.
E: I completely agree.
