Hi everyone. I am Jacob Mills and I am pleased to be here today to tell you all about my adventure in the desert wilderness of Wadi Rum in Jordan. This area is a large valley on the western side of the Arabian Desert, which is the largest desert area in Asia. My friends and I arrived by jeep at one of the desert camps early in the morning. At the camp, we checked into our large tents. We started our adventure with a trek in the desert. We learned about the history of Wadi Rum and its local tribes from our guide. After a lunch break, we went on a camel ride. We rode to some high rocks for some great views. In the evening, we ate around the campfire listening to traditional music. Our food was cooked on the ground, a traditional way of cooking in the desert. After dinner, we were listening to stories around the fire while we were drinking local tea. When we returned to our tents and just when I thought this adventure couldn't get any better, we opened the top of our tent and saw a night sky full of bright stars. I was so excited to sleep under the stars. It was an incredible connection with nature. Something I will never forget.

T: Hi Paul. How are you? Are you enjoying summer camp this year?

P: Oh, hi Trisha. I'm having a great time. I love all the adventure activities. They are such an adrenaline rush. I went kayaking yesterday. It was amazing.

T: Oh, wow. I am too scared to try that. You are so brave.

P: Well, to be honest, I was pretty worried the whole time because I had never done that before. But it ended up being an incredible experience.

T: Definitely, I am confused though. Why didn't you participate in the races on the sports day today? Did you go trekking in the mountains instead, like some other kids?

P: No. I was just so tired from yesterday's kayaking. Besides, I have swimming races and a tennis match tomorrow. I really want to win a medal in the swimming races. I have never won one before. How about you? Did you compete in any sports today?

T: You know me, Paul. I don't really like doing sports. I prefer to watch them.

P: That's true. But you were great in the musical “On Fear” tonight. You sang so beautifully. I could never sing in public.

T: Thanks. It was a lot of fun. But I was happy when it was over because I no longer felt nervous. Someday I hope to become a famous singer though.

P: I am sure you will be. You should be proud. You were great.

T: Thanks, Paul.
