Ngữ pháp tiếng Anh lớp 8 Global Success unit 2 Life in the countryside bao gồm cấu trúc so sánh hơn với trạng từ trong tiếng Anh giúp các em ôn tập lý thuyết tiếng Anh 8 Global Success Unit 2 hiệu quả.

Ta sử dụng So sánh hơn để so sánh giữa người (hoặc vật) này với người (hoặc vật) khác.

Review: Comparative adjectives (So sánh hơn của tính từ)

Cấu trúc:

- Short Adj: S + be + adj + er + than + Noun/ Pronoun

- Long Adj: S + be + more + adj + than + Noun/ Pronoun

Ex: China is bigger than India. (Trung Hoa to lớn hơn Ấn Độ.)

Gold is more valuable than silver. (Vàng có giá trị hơn bạc.)

I. Phân biệt trạng từ ngắn - trạng từ dài

- Trạng từ ngắn (Short adverbs) là trạng từ có một âm tiết

Ví dụ:

- hard, fast, near, far, right, wrong, ...

Trạng từ dài (Long adverbs) là trạng từ có 2 âm tiết trở lên.

Ví dụ:

- quickly, interestingly, tiredly, ...

II. So sánh hơn với trạng từ tiếng Anh

- So sánh hơn với trạng từ ngắn:

Ví dụ: They work harder than I do. 

- So sánh hơn với trạng từ dài:

Ví dụ: My friend did the test more carefully than I did.

Trong đó: 

S1: Chủ ngữ 1 (Đối tượng được so sánh)

S2: Chủ ngữ 2 (Đối tượng dùng để so sánh với đối tượng 1)

 

- Cách thêm -er vào sau trạng từ ngắn

+ Thêm -er vào sau hầu hết trạng từ ngắn. fast → faster hard → harder high → higher

+ Với trạng từ ngắn tận cùng bằng e thì chỉ thêm r. late → later

+ Với trạng từ ngắn tận cùng bằng ly, đổi y thành i rồi thêm er. early → earlier

- Cách thêm more vào trước trạng từ dài

Với trạng từ dài, ta giữ nguyên trạng từ và thêm more vào phía trước.

slowly	→ more slowly
quickly	→ more quickly
happily	→ more happily
carefully	→ more carefully
healthily	→ more healthily
intelligently	→ more intelligently

Một số trạng từ bất quy tắc

Một số’ trạng từ không theo quy tắc trên mà có dạng so sánh hơn riêng biệt.

good/well (tốt)	Ú better (tốt hơn)
bad/ badly (tệ)	Ú worse (tệ hơn)
many/ much (nhiều)	Ú more (nhiều hơn)
far (xa)	Ú farther/ further (xa hơn)
little (ít)	Ú less (ít hơn)

Các trường hợp dùng dạng so sánh hơn của trạng từ

Chúng ta dùng dạng so sánh hơn của trạng từ khi muốn so sánh cách thức, thời điểm, tần suất hay mức độ mà một hành động được thực hiện.

Example: Tom runs faster than his brother.

Mai solves the problem more exactly than Nam.

Ghi chú:

Chúng ta có thể dùng từ và cụm từ nhấn mạnh như a bit, a little (bit), much, a lot, far để nhấn mạnh sự so sánh.

Example: Monkeys jump a lot higher than cats.

Sam drives a little (bit) more carefully than Tom.
