  • Câu 3: Nhận biết

    Choose the letter A, B, C, or D to indicate the word(s) OPPOSITE in meaning to the underlined word(s) in each of the following sentences.

    Opposite of "save" (tiết kiệm) là "waste" (lãng phí)

    Dịch: Chúng ta nên tiết kiệm năng lượng → Trái nghĩa: lãng phí năng lượng

    Choose the letter A, B, C, or D to indicate the word(s) CLOSEST in meaning to the underlined word(s) in each of the following sentences.

     "Permit" = allow (cho phép)

    Dịch: Chính phủ nên kiểm soát chặt chẽ và cho phép các hoạt động công nghiệp để giảm thiểu tác động lên môi trường.

  • Câu 5: Vận dụng

    Combine the pairs of the sentences, using the conjunction in the brackets.

    The atmosphere changes and the heat increases. It can cause a number of problems. (when)

    ⇒ When the atmosphere changes and the heat increases, it can cause a number of problems.

    Đáp án là:

    Cấu trúc: When + mệnh đề nguyên nhân, mệnh đề kết quả: dùng để chỉ thời điểm hoặc điều kiện mà một điều gì đó xảy ra.

    Ở đây, khi khí quyển thay đổi và nhiệt tăng lên, thì một số vấn đề có thể xảy ra.

    Dịch: Khi khí quyển thay đổi và nhiệt độ tăng lên, nó có thể gây ra nhiều vấn đề.

    Sea levels are rising (Mực nước biển đang dâng).

    Dịch: Trong khi các tảng băng và sông băng đang tan chảy, mực nước biển cũng đang dâng lên.

  • Câu 7: Thông hiểu

    Đáp án là:

     "Important" = crucial (quan trọng, thiết yếu)

    Dịch: Điều quan trọng là phải kiểm soát và xử lý đúng cách các vật liệu nguy hiểm. → important = crucial

  • Câu 9: Nhận biết

    Decide whether the underlined part is an independent clause (I) or a dependent clause (D).

    As soon as there’s smoke, I start feeling bad. ⇒ Independent clause||Dependent clause

    Đáp án là:

    As soon as there’s smoke, I start feeling bad. ⇒ Independent clause||Dependent clause

     "As soon as there’s smoke" → mệnh đề phụ thuộc (không thể đứng một mình)

    Phần gạch chân "I start feeling bad" → mệnh đề độc lập: có chủ ngữ ("I") và động từ ("start") → diễn đạt một ý hoàn chỉnh.

    Dịch: Ngay khi có khói, tôi bắt đầu cảm thấy không khỏe.

  • Câu 10: Nhận biết

    Decide whether the underlined part is an independent clause (I) or a dependent clause (D).

    The traffic conditions worsen until they are repaired. ⇒ Dependent clause||Independent clause

    Đáp án là:

    The traffic conditions worsen until they are repaired. ⇒ Dependent clause||Independent clause

     Phần gạch chân: "until they are repaired" là một mệnh đề phụ thuộc.

    Dấu hiệu: bắt đầu bằng liên từ until → mệnh đề này không thể đứng một mình.

    Dịch: Tình trạng giao thông trở nên tệ hơn cho đến khi chúng được sửa chữa.

  • Câu 11: Vận dụng

    Đáp án là:

     Cấu trúc: Before + mệnh đề hành động thứ hai, mệnh đề hành động thứ nhất dùng để chỉ hành động nào đó phải xảy ra trước hành động khác.

    Ý nghĩa ở đây là: phải hiểu rõ vấn đề trước, rồi mới có thể giải quyết.

    Dịch: Trước khi chúng ta có thể giải quyết bất kỳ vấn đề nào, chúng ta cần hiểu rõ nó trước.

  • Câu 12: Vận dụng

    Opposite of "protect" (bảo vệ) là "destroy" (phá hủy)

    Dịch: Chúng ta có trách nhiệm bảo vệ môi trường → Trái nghĩa: phá hủy môi trường
