    enjoy + V-ing → "enjoy watching" = thích xem

    Watching historical films: cụm danh động từ (gerund phrase)

    Cả hai câu đều diễn đạt rằng em trai thích/phấn khích khi xem phim lịch sử, chỉ khác về cách diễn đạt.

    Dịch: Câu gốc: Việc xem phim lịch sử khiến em trai tôi thấy thú vị.

    →  Câu viết lại: Em trai tôi thích xem phim lịch sử.

    Combine the following two simple sentences into a compound sentence.

    My best friend is studying abroad. It is impossible for us to meet each other now.

     Dùng “so” để nối hai mệnh đề, diễn tả kết quả – vì bạn thân đang du học, nên hai người không thể gặp nhau.

    Dịch: Bạn thân nhất của tôi đang du học, vì vậy bây giờ chúng tôi không thể gặp nhau được.

    →  Câu viết lại: Anh ấy quan tâm/thích thú với việc bơi và tắm nắng.

    ⇒ David said that robots could never replace human beings.

    Đáp án là:

     Lùi thì: "can" → "could".

    Dịch: David nói rằng robot không bao giờ có thể thay thế con người.

    Dịch: Đã rất lâu kể từ lần cuối chúng tôi gặp nhau, nhưng tôi vẫn nhớ rõ anh ấy.

    Dịch: Ban đầu cô ấy không đồng ý tham gia chuyến đi của chúng tôi; tuy nhiên, sau đó cô ấy đã đổi ý.

    Complete the sentences with suitable forms of the adverbs given in the brackets.

    Cấu trúc so sánh hơn với trạng từ dài (adverb of manner) như "responsibly":

    less + adverb + than → kém hơn

    more + adverb + than → hơn

    Cặp trái nghĩa: less responsibly ↔ more responsibly

    Dịch: Câu gốc: "Chú của anh ấy làm việc kém trách nhiệm hơn ông Nam."

    → Câu viết lại: "Ông Nam làm việc có trách nhiệm hơn chú của anh ấy."

     Giải thích: “Where did you go yesterday?” → lùi thì: "did go" → "had gone", "yesterday" → "the day before".

    Dịch: Anh ấy hỏi con gái đã đi đâu vào ngày hôm trước.

    Write compound sentences using the conjunctive adverb in brackets.

    He was very tired. He went on walking. (nevertheless)

    → He was very tired; nevertheless, he went on walking.

    Đáp án là:

     "Nevertheless" là trạng từ liên kết, dùng để thể hiện sự đối lập giữa hai mệnh đề.

    Dùng dấu chấm phẩy (;) trước nevertheless và dấu phẩy (,) sau nó trong câu ghép.

    Cả hai mệnh đề đều độc lập (có chủ ngữ và động từ riêng).

    Dịch: Anh ấy rất mệt; tuy nhiên, anh vẫn tiếp tục đi bộ.

    Chủ ngữ Children (số nhiều) → to be chia là are

    Dịch nghĩa:

    Câu gốc: Trẻ em phải sống với cha mẹ cho đến khi đủ 18 tuổi.

    → Câu viết lại: Trẻ em bị bắt buộc phải sống với cha mẹ cho đến khi đủ 18 tuổi.

  • Câu 15: Vận dụng cao
    Complete the sentences with suitable forms of the adverbs given in the brackets.

    Nick is a careful writer than Phuc. (carefully)

    → Nick writes essays more carefully than Phuc||more carefully than Phuc does.

    Đáp án là:

    Nick is a careful writer than Phuc. (carefully)

    → Nick writes essays more carefully than Phuc||more carefully than Phuc does.

    Viết lại câu sử dụng carefully (trạng từ) → nghĩa là cần đổi từ tính từ "careful" sang trạng từ "carefully", và chuyển cấu trúc cho phù hợp (từ “to be” sang “động từ thường”).

    "Nick is a more careful writer" → nói về Nick là người viết cẩn thận hơn

    Dùng trạng từ để mô tả cách thức hành động (viết) được thực hiện: writes essays more carefully → Nick viết bài luận cẩn thận hơn

    Dịch: Câu gốc: Nick là người viết cẩn thận hơn Phúc.
