Nội dung bài nghe
Speaker 1: Dad.
Dad: Yes.
Speaker 1: Who is the first woman to climb Mount Everest?
Dad: Hmm, I don't know. Why?
Speaker 1: It's for my history homework.
Dad: Why don't you look it up online?
Speaker 1: Great idea. Oh, her name was Tabei Junko. She was Japanese. She climbed Mount Everest in 1975.
Dad: Does it say anything else?
Speaker 1: Yes, it says she became the first woman to climb the highest mountains on all seven continents in 1992.
Dad: Wow, that's impressive. Is she still alive?
Speaker 1: She was born in 1939 and died in 2016 aged 77.
Speaker 1: Wow, listen to this. Tabei Junko started the first mountain climbing club for Japanese ladies in 1969 because male mountain climbers treated her badly.
Dad: What do you mean?
Speaker 1: Men refused to come with her and thought she was interested in mountain climbing because she wanted to find a husband.
Dad: Yes, things are pretty different back then.
Speaker 1: There's more.
Speaker 1: Tabei became head in Japan of a global organization which protects mountain environments and lead climbs to clean up trash in Japan and the Himalayas.
Dad: Yes, I've heard that mountain climbers sometimes leave a lot of trash behind after their climbs.
Speaker 1: That's terrible. Maybe they should have fewer climbers.
